For months, the classrooms at Oduke Mixed Secondary School carried a silent struggle. Eager students gathered daily with a hunger to learn, yet many were forced to balance their notebooks on their knees or crowd around worn, inadequate benches. For these young minds, every lesson was a test of endurance before it was ever a test of knowledge.
Recognizing that every child deserves dignity in their learning environment, the Rotary Club of Asaba Government House, in dynamic collaboration with the Rotary Club of Asaba Metropolitan, stepped forward to change the narrative.
Driven by Rotary’s enduring motto of “Service Above Self,” the two clubs joined forces to deliver 150 brand-new wooden desks directly to the school.
The atmosphere on handover day was electric. The quiet halls erupted into joy as students and teachers watched row after row of sturdy, beautifully crafted desks fill the classrooms. For the students, it was more than just wooden furniture—it was a message that their community believed in their potential.
